​​CSU-AAUP Doris Werner Memorial Scholarship Fund

The CSU-AAUP Doris Werner Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1993 in memory of Doris Werner. Doris was director of communication for CSU-AAUP and coordinator for the SCSU-AAUP Chapter from 1979 until her untimely passing in 1993. During those years Doris edited numerous campus and statewide newsletters for AAUP, arranged hundreds of meetings for the Executive Committee, organized many special meetings for the Southern community and much more. Doris will be most remembered for her sensitive and careful manner with which she dealt with faculty questions, concerns and problems. If she did not know the answer to a question, she would find out and get back to the individual. She had a special way of working with people. Doris was a college English teacher -- a job she loved -- prior to joining the CSU-AAUP staff. This love of teaching marked her involvement with many students over the years. The students employed by AAUP were her students, and she was a very capable teacher. She helped them with their course work, and other assignments, and helped them through life's large and small problems. We are proud to offer a scholarship in her honor.

SCSU-AAUP Memorial Scholarship

The SCSU-AAUP Memorial Scholarship was established as a living memorial to honor our deceased SCSU faculty and family members by assisting one worthy student each year with their education at Southern. The award is the cost of one semester's tuition.
